Peter, Peter Pumpkin Eater Had a wife but couldn’t keep her He put her in a pumpkin shell And thought he kept her very well.

One wonders at his credulity Not to mention the cruelty Of thinking you could keep a spouse A prisoner within your house.

She drank a toast, but to herself And because she valued her mental health She found a job and her own place After she threw a pumpkin pie in his face.
