Statistically, I Have Been Good This Year

I am still playing with the instrument theme. A fairly well known prayer is that of St. Francis of Assisi, where he asks to be an “instrument of peace.”

Peace makers are needed at any time, but it is especially high on the list of many people at this time of year, so my Christmas message to anyone who happens to visit this post is “Be an instrument of peace.”

Also, if one of those someones is Santa, I assure you I’ve been good this year, 9 times out of 10.

* A 90% probability of being good does not mean I was good 9 times and  bad every 10th time. It means that out of 100 trials I would have been good approximately 90 times and bad approximately 10. I want to make it clear that just because I was good 90 times in a row doesn’t mean I was bad the very next time, and 9 times after that. To be honest, it also doesn’t guarantee that I might not have been bad 11 times in a row, although I assure you, Santa, that didn’t happen, no matter what certain people might have told you to put on your list!

Statistics are like a bikini. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. It is proven that the celebration of birthdays is healthy. Statistics show that those people who celebrate the most birthdays become the oldest.
