Navel Gazing

We all share having a navel, unless it has had to be surgically removed due to abdominal problems.

Funiculus Umbilicalis

So whether yours is an “innie” or an “outie” it may interest you to know what’s going on with the vestigal remains of  your umbilical cord:

A team of scientists have discovered there are 1,400 strains of bacteria lurking in human belly buttons. North Carolina State University’s Belly Button Biodiversity study even found 662 unrecognised strains which could be unique new species.

Ponder that next time you are navel gazing!
