Let Your Own Light Shine
“You were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within you. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as you let your own light shine, you unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As you are liberated from your own fear, your presence automatically liberates others.” ~Nelson Mandela.
Here’s another paper quilt I just completed: I’m working on letting my light shine!

Desire
24″
Different things come to me as I look at this quilt. I think about the hatching of desire, the way we nurture a desire, until it finally comes into being. The window represents the opportunities of seeing, realizing what we want. The transmitter of light. It can sometimes be hard to let our desires take flight, but the tenacious crow is the perfect bird to make sure that happens! Most of the time, our dreams are squelched by our own lack of courage or vision–we literally negate (x) them out of existence. But the crow is ready to fly, above the waters of the subconscious, above our reaching arms, reaching upward like branches, into the wide sky, that spacious container with enough room for all our dreams, every one, and then some.
Desire can be so hard to hatch. We tend to negate it out of existence by our own lack of courage and vision. But the tenacious crow is ready to fly above our subconscious streams above our branching arms into the open sky that spacious container with more than enough capacity for all our desires every one and then some.
