It’s Not the Speed of Your Thoughts That Counts

Our thoughts are constantly streaming through our minds, unless we have discovered a way to enter the pure silence of being.

Streaming Through

These thoughts can literally imprison us in a very small space that only makes room for our own ego and little else.

Einstein had a larger vision:

A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

If you are one of those who has already dismissed Einstein as “wrong,” read Neutrinos and the speed of light? Not so fast . . .

Carver makes some interesting points on Scientific Phenomena:

This is not some crank on YouTube saying he proved Einstein wrong. I am really interested to see what happens as labs around the world try and replicate this effect. If the result is due to some error, we still learn something new; if not, physicists are going to have some serious work to do.

As for our thoughts, I have no idea how fast they can travel. And if I really don’t want to focus on them, but want to transcend them, then perhaps I don’t need to worry about their velocity. I should, according to Buddha, concentrate on their quality instead.

We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world. …….~ Buddha
