[A]mong the Santa Clara Pueblo potters, there is the extended Naranjo family, descended from matriarch Rose Naranjo (b. 1915). It would be hard to find a more accomplished family anywhere: In some ways, they are the Tewa equivalent of J.D. Salinger’s Glass family. Of Rose’s eight children, you find not only potters but authors, college professors, sculptors and a filmmaker. Among her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are some of the best and most respected artists working today.
