Fabulous Opportunities
I have been afforded some fabulous teaching opportunities, and hope that some of you will join me.
I have a great passion for teaching, and have experienced over and over the tremendous expansion in creative energy that takes place when people with artistic vision gather to focus on a particular task. The end results differ widely in their interpretation and execution, but dovetail beautifully because of their common origin.
Be advised that I LIKE TO HAVE FUN ~ an art workshop is a celebration of what we love to do! Encouragement to dig deeper, take risks, and follow that muse no matter which wild path she leads us on, are also part of the “lesson plan.” Much laughter, and even tears, are part of the learning process. Art is not just composed of paint, paper and other materials: EMOTIONS are integral to each piece.
I have heard there is a promise in the Talmud that speaks to me:
Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, “Grow, grow.”
It is my deepest wish to be one of those angels, for you, as will every other participant in the class.
1~ART BOOK ADVENTURE
I will be teaching this workshop at the Southampton Art School from July 25 to July 27, 2011.
Oh my, there is nothing quite like constructing an art book for getting your creative juices flowing. That’s why I call it an adventure.
We will construct an art book, from scratch, with a Cracked Paper Quilt cover. I will also demonstrate a number of other types of clever and fun covers.
Then we will throw an array of mixed media techniques at the pages.
A smaller inner page (on the spread above), opens to the right or to the left to create different views.

2~DESIGN AND CONSTRUCT A CRACKED PAPER QUILT
I will be teaching this workshop at Quilting By the Lake 2 on October 28 and 29, 2011.

(See more Quilt pics on Flickr.)
Experience the pleasure of constructing a paper quilt. You may find, as I did, that you will fall in love with the textures you can create, the ease with which you can create shapes and the myriad of ways you can decorate the paper surface.
We will explore techniques such as:
Φ Making and using a variety of art papers for the quilt top
Φ Shaping the quilt
Φ Painting with acrylic & gesso on your quilt top
Φ Using an array of mixed media techniques on the quilt
