Cause you never can tell
What goes on down below!
This pool might be bigger
Than you or I know!”
……~ Dr. Seuss, McElligot’s Pool Whether the “pool” is a body of water, or someone’s mind (including your own), it can be hard to tell what is going on below the surface. That’s not always a bad thing. But if we want to become fully conscious, to really see below the apparent surface of things, we need to be willing dive in and face what we find. It Can Be Wild Down Below #surface
Of the Surface of Things
In my room, the world is beyond my understanding;
But when I walk I see that it consists of three or four
hills and a cloud.
From my balcony, I survey the yellow air,
Reading where I have written,
“The spring is like a belle undressing.”
The gold tree is blue,
The singer has pulled his cloak over his head.
The moon is in the folds of the cloak.

Each work begins to emerge as I am able to suspend expectation and allow enough stillness to “go with the flow.” This piece reiterates that going deeper is as natural as a tree sending down roots, and as nurturing. It is also a reminder that what we see at the surface is only part of the being before us.
