    Getting Stuck

Sometimes I get stuck in a certain groove. I start with one painting or photo, and keep altering it over and over, trying different things in any number of ways. What I call getting stuck (and I don’t mean that in a bad way), others call doing a series. I have gone from that to this and now, after 50 tries or so, it has turned into the following: Suspended Along the way I added a photo snapped in Photo Booth, on my Mac. You see, I can get myself to make any facial expression

    The Journey-Work of Stars

What do you see in a blade of grass? Walt Whitman  saw “no less than the journey-work of the stars.” I see bursts of light, the very light that runs through and joins all of creation, including you and me. Burst That’s how yesterday’s grass became today’s burst. #stars #grass #fathom #burst #WaltWhitman #journey #CWWOL20120517

Singular Or Just One In a Crowd?

I created a piece I call “One in a crowd” and snagged my thinking on that phrase. Just One in a Crowd Sometimes, we feel we are nothing but part of a crowd. At other times, we are grateful for complete anonymity. And being singular? Standing out can be exhilarating, but as the stars complain, their singularity attracts both good attention and bad. Fans may be supportive, or rabid. Paparazzi can cause embarrassment, or may be deadly. I have met many singular individuals, who h

Every Once In a While We Catch a Glimmer

Glimmer Here or There Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations. ……~ Alan Watts #AlanWatts #stars #wrong #universe #CWWOL20120313 #right #glimmer

    Like Nothing We’ve Ever Seen

. Denial It’s so easy to keep walking, to keep working, to keep talking, without thought of why we do it only wanting to get through it. But then a red tree rises before us while the stars all sing in chorus. It’s like nothing we’ve heard or seen and makes us more than we have been. And yet, we assume we’re not enough, somehow lacking the right stuff. How much has this world been denied by those simply too afraid to try? ………~ Carol Wiebe The Red Tree Sees #Denial #re

    A Precious Shield

… Search for the seed of good in every adversity. Master that principle and you will own a precious shield that will guard you well through all the darkest valleys you must traverse. Stars may be seen from the bottom of a deep well when they cannot be discerned from the mountaintop. So will you learn things in adversity that you would never have discovered without trouble. There is always a seed of good. Find it and prosper. ………….~ Og Mandino Shields #precious #stars #shield

    Snail Mail Still Delivers

I hardly send a letter anymore; email has ruined my postal patience. Sending a letter is excruciatingly, and not very trustworthy. The Letter carrier’s code has gone awry.  I have also become reliant on click-able links to add interest to my missive. But snail mail still delivers a few things that email, as yet, cannot. Parcels, for instance. All my online book purchases and DVDs arrive in my mailbox. And my magazines. Every time a package arrives, I grab it and put it aside

This Art Quilt Went “Whee, whee, whee!” All the Way Home.

That last quilt for my solo show is finally done . . . and I’m exhilarated enough to shout “Whee!” Also, I call completing a quilt “taking it home;” hence, the nursery rhyme reference. The title of the quilt is Messengers, and it is 36″ wide by 44″ long. I’ve worked on it for about 3 years. Everything is hand pieced and hand stitched. The edges have a crocheted binding. The fabric is my own hand painted fabric. After quilting, I keep painting. The first time I painted onto a
