    Muddled

Relationships can get muddled. What started out so clear and true can acquire dark layers that obscure the reasons for staying in the relationship. When that happens, offer a passionate argument for why the relationship is worth fighting for. This is a war both sides can win. Stuck

I’m stuck on the image I created for yesterday’s post. I have made many variations of the same image, and still do not have one I feel completely satisfied with. I simply do not have the skill to create what is in my mind yet. And really, that should come as no surprise. If we could easily produce what we can imagine, in any area of our lives, we would be living in Utopia. Or would we? How often do you change your mind about what you want? Fire In My Belly

I have learned some surprising things from making at least one new digital image every day for 437 days. 1) I really like making digital images. That may sound obvious, but I didn’t really believe digital art could be as satisfying to create as it has proven to be. And, as you can see, it is pretty hard to be that prolific using physical materials instead of pixels. 2) I like to think that making digital art is like taking a LOT of photographs. You have to wind up with a few

Some Things Are Best Left Buried

. I always wanted to do something significant, she said. Like what? he asked That’s the problem, I was never sure what. Still don’t know. There was a deep wistfulness to her tone. We’ve had three children, we’ve been married far longer than most. Isn’t that significant? Significant, for him, was something you could see and touch. Of course, she reassured him. But those are personal gifts to me. I wanted to give something amazing to the world. Why is that important? He was puz

    Keep It Simple, Sweetie.

I took the painting from It’s Never Just Black and White into my favorite program, Photoshop Elements and we did a little dance routine. Once again, I see how very simple paintings can be layered into complex designs. These are a few of them: Just Say It One Both Lit From Above Faded Glory These designs were built layer by layer, from that simple beginning to a more complex outcome. Sometimes the layering leads to greater sophistication, interest, attractiveness. Sometimes, t

    Storm Brewing

The pink paint that I used in one of my other paintings provided this combination on a black background.  It reminded me of a storm brewing above a planned and orderly location. Storm Brewing I took it a few steps further and called it The Calm Before. The Calm Before I will add a few more layers and see where this one goes. If you have been following my art adventures for the last few weeks, you know that I have quite a few paintings on the go. #layers #calmbeforethestorm #C

Cracked Paper Quilts 2: Stitching the Paper Sandwich

My second video about making Cracked Paper Quilts is now ready to view. This time, the paper top that was created in the first video becomes the top layer of my quilt sandwich. Then I begin to sew the dickens out of it. You can also view it by going to Cracked Paper Quilts 2: Stitching the Paper Sandwich on Vimeo. #quilting #art #layers #quiltsandwich #Paper #CrackedPaperQuilts #quiltlayers #Artquilt #layer #QuiltingArtsissue39 #mixedmedia #CrackedPaperQuiltsVideo #Paperquilt

    A Creative Universe

If you are feeling negative about the world, and your recent experience in it, grab a computer, hop onto the Internet and start typing keywords about things that interest you. I guarantee that, if you bring a sense of expectation and openness to this exercise,  it will not take long before you find incredibly innovative ideas, great generosity, and amazing artists. In fact, you can become so enthralled by what the Internet has to offer that you forget the necessities of life:
