    The Grass Isn’t Always Greener

I snapped this pic as I was going in to work. Those shadows of the grass on the concrete emphasize the long, spiky blades and create a pattern all their own. There are so many textures here: the smooth plants, the crumbling dirt, the pitted concrete, the little bits of organic matter (or remnants of an old cigarette butt). The wet cement as opposed to the dry also produces different shades of gray, and that jewel of green strokes, with sunlight glinting off of them, sparkles.

Cement plus light equals attractive tiles

This is another photo of the dappled light I tried to capture yesterday. Dappled Light, the Sequel I took a section of it and created tiles I’d like to put on my floor, especially if they produced the kind of live light show that mesmerized me on my sidewalk. Barring that, I can use them as collage and stitch elements. Dappled Light

There is something so ethereal about dappled light. Dappled Light 1 Dappled Light 2 I noticed the light through my front window, casting mottled spots upon the sidewalk, and tore out to “capture” it. #cement #CWWOL20110608b #mottled #concrete #dappledlight #ethereal #light #CWWOL20110608a

    Wine spill

Visiting a winery, instead of taking pics of all the equipment, or even the wine tasting, I was fascinated with wine spills on the cement floor. Especially this one, which I call “Blushing cement.” Wine spill on cement floor With my little digital camera, it’s difficult to get an accurate picture. There is too much I can’t control, and frankly, that doesn’t bother me a bit. I just want enough to play with. Blush 1 Blush 2 Blush 3 Blush 4 Blush 5 The differences between some o

    Some Kinda Wonderful

My husband Ted (remember the man who doesn’t call himself an artist?) surprised me today. He really shouldn’t, not because it is wrong of him to surprise me, but because he does creative things constantly. Maybe it is something like the startle reflex, which I can’t seem to prevent from happening. The surprise reflex is a great thing to keep experiencing, however. Life is some kinda wonderful when you have people like Ted in your life. I thought he was just cleaning the garag
