    Buddha On the Rocks

We went to see our kids in Prince Edward County today, and this little blue guy greeted us. He made me smile, both because I received an instant feeling of calm when I spied him perched peacefully on the rocks, and due to the fact that my ever active granddaughter paused, closed her eyes and bowed in front of him. I considered it a charming acknowledgement that she felt the same. I doubt if there is a drink by the name of Buddha on the Rocks, but if it affected people the way

Revel in Being a Master of Integration

. I found this pic of a small piece of cloth I once painted, and got a craving for painting some abstracts. Blue Painted Cloth This is how it works for me: I follow my cravings, and use the appropriate skills I already have, or experiment with new ones, in order to satisfy them. I do not consider it a problem to have a large menu of skills and techniques at my disposal. It just takes a while to work my way through practicing them all. Blue Window

Every time I drove to work, last year, I would see these windows on an old brick building and a thought would flit across my mind: “I like the different shades of blue there.” However, the building is on a busy road, a big fence surrounds it, and on my days off I never thought about it. This week, I glanced over and it seemed someone was starting to demolish the building. Also, my major impediment ~ the fence ~ was down. I decided I had better stop soon and photograph those w

    Color Surrounds Us

I have been mixing and painting many little color samples to put on charts, as I work through Judy Coates Perez’s color theory course. The charts are lined up like tiny cardboard quilts. Or small maps leading me to different destinations in the world of color. Color surrounds us, and we have certain preferences about the colors we see. However, mixing colors in a systematic way has made me more analytical about the way I interact with color. I look at an object, note its colo
