Taking My Own Words to Heart

. I have been working on my Cracked Paper Quilts site. The subtitle is and Other Paper Possibilities, so I am adding my art book pages to it as well. So far, I just updated my gallery for the paper quilts, and tomorrow I will work on adding an Art Book gallery. At least that is the plan. We all know what can happen to our well laid plans. We shall see how long it takes me. I keep reminding myself of the little sermon on time I gave yesterday. I used the royal we, but it was p

    My Sentiments Exactly

I took this pic of a wall in an alley in Hespeler–part of Cambridge, Ontario. Part of a wall in a part of an alley in a part of Cambridge. (This is starting to sound like a children’s story.) I wish I could have snapped the whole wall, but a parked vehicle blocked my view. (Can you see the small part of the vehicle in the bottom lefthand corner?) Creativity is . . . I am Me. In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me. Everything that comes out of me is authentical

    Splashes of Red

This splash of red petals on weathered wood caught my eye: Red Petals I snapped this pic on a bandstand in the park in Wellington, Ontario. #bandstand #CWWOL20110715 #Ontario #petals #Wellington #splashes #splashesofred #red

Flowers and Foliage and a Multitude of Slender Branches

My husband started building a chicken coop for our daughter-in-law, today,  in PE County. I stitched, visited various PE County town delights, including Books & Company, and took pics here and there. This shot, of flowers, foliage, and a multitude of very slender branches, yielded some interesting concepts once I started playing with it. Sugaring Off

Walking in the woods wasn’t all we did in Hastings, although that was certainly soul satisfying enough. We also got involved in the maple syrup production process. My very resourceful daughter-in-law, Dayna, had already put the spouts into the maple trees. Maple sap dripping into pail. Pails Collecting Sap My husband Ted helped her gather the buckets of sap and pour them into the pan evaporator. The pan had been placed onto a metal grate so that a fire could be lit, and maint

    Spring Is Hastening in Hastings

We are staying in a cabin outside of Hastings, Ontario, where spring is ready to burst at the seams.  Ice and snow are melting on gravel roads, causing them to ooze with mud. We also witnessed ice floes ~surface ice that had broken free~grind over buoys on Rice Lake. (No photos of that, drat!) The frozen morning puddles, and last year’s leaves and branches melding with the mud, mesmerize me. The trees add subtle, soft-edged shadows into the visual mix. The broken branch has f

    Taking Risks With Jeane Myers

I’ve written about her before, and when I read on Artit that Jeane was coming to Ontario, I signed up right away for the class she will be teaching at Southampton Art School. It happens in the beginning of May. Jeane uses oils and encaustic. I’m an acrylic lover. But that is inconsequential: I love her spirit, her attitude, her style. I am ready to take risks alongside this fearless leader, who continually demonstrates the “going deeper” with her art that she advises to other

    Some Strange Goings On

Strange things have been happening on my blog lately. Posts that were already sent out to subscribers have been sent out again. (I subscribe to my own blog so that I know what is sent out and when.) Posts that I made private within seconds of publishing them have been sent out almost immediately. “Press This” posts that I have asked to be drafts have been published publicly.  My attention has certainly been piqued. I wonder if anyone else has experienced similar anomalies. No
